The training course CLOWN-INSIDE New Actions in Youth Work was realized in Solarino from 19th – 25th September 2010 and sow the active participation of 16 participants and youth workers coming from Italy, Spain, Belgium, France, Greece, United Kingdom, Romania and Turkey.

The theme of the project were the social inclusion, the active citizenship and the daily struggle to every form of discrimination with a particular attention to the urban and suburban contests. The aim of the project was to provide youth workers of new competences and skills in the management of the local projects targeted to less privileged youngsters coming from disadvantage backgrounds, such as the outskirts of some European big cities. The involved participants had the chance to exchange methodologies and to work on the accessing policy in order to enlarge the participation of the young people, beneficiaries of their activities.

Two laboratories were realized in the training:

Cross cultural competences: the aim was to facilitate the team building and the cohesion of the group, to discuss on group and leadership – ethic of the leadership, group dynamics and group’s conflicts – to analyse the intercultural learning – how the prejudices and stereotypes can affect a positive approach to social issues – to work on non violent management of conflicts and to reflect on the quality standards and project’ life circle – setting up, implementation of the activities, follow up and evaluation -
Clownery workshop: the aim was to analyse the internal conflicts and to raise awareness and consciousness toward them, to develop the capability of working in group using creativity – outsourcing of conflicts and non violent resolution through creative ways were analysed -, to use the clownery as a way to generate social changes and to structure new active methodologies to involve less privileged youngsters.

The last two days of the project was developed a session called Training in Action: 4 study visits in a school, an hospitals, a youth centre in the suburb and centre for disable were realized. The aim was to put in practice during the training itself the capabilities and the skills the participant gained during the course. This session was used also as flexible and dynamic evaluative tool useful to arrange and improve the methodologies used during the visits on the needs of the target groups.
